Founded in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2020, Gothenburg Oboe Quartet are quickly establishing themselves as the only permanent oboe quartet in the Nordic countries, and have been gaining recognition for their unique blend of instruments and innovative programming. In 2025, they will release their debut album, Fred i Vår Tid, containing new Nordic compositions for oboe quartet, (including a new work by Faroese native Alvi Joensen.)

This program, The Sound of the Faroe Islands, focuses exclusively on music by Faroese composers, offering Gothenburg Oboe Quartet the chance to delve into an exploration of Faroese musical traditions, culture, and landscapes. By performing this music in the Faroe Islands, the quartet aims to be able to subsequently share it with audiences across the Nordic region, fostering a greater appreciation for the diversity of Nordic music.
