"The 'Maggio delle Ragazze' of Riolunato is an old popular tradition in Italy, which celebrates the coming back of the good season, and is celebrated in two moments: the night between April 30th and 1st of May, and again on the second Sunday of May.
This tradition is handed down from one generation to another, and is performed by the maggiolanti (young singers, musicians and dancers).
During the night the maggiolanti go around the village singing goodwishing songs; while on the second Sunday the villagers present them with food and drinks which, brought to the square, are shared amid songs and dances.
